Textbooks are a crucial tool for physics teachers to plan and prepare the lessons and give an overview over the workload of a school year for teachers and pupils. Moreover, curriculum materials can inform parents and private tutors about the subject matter. Not surprisingly, different players have different demands on textbooks.
Moreover, the demands on physics textbooks change over time and differ from country to country.
This review gives an overview over the expectations on physics textbooks analysing and summarizing research articles from all over the world.
