The «Linguistic and Global Citizenship – A Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Project in Swiss and Brazil Language Education» is an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing language education by integrating linguistic and global citizenship concepts. This project is a collaboration between the University of Teacher Education Lucerne in Switzerland and two Brazilian universities: the State University of Campinas and the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul. The project focuses on developing teaching materials that merge linguistic and global citizenship education, promoting sustainable language practices, and addressing social justice issues. By employing the COIL approach, the project facilitates cross-cultural exchange and collaboration between Swiss and Brazilian students and educators. This method not only enriches the participants' educational experiences but also fosters critical cultural awareness. Key outcomes include the creation of teaching materials, the development of an ethnographic film, and the publication of joint research articles. The project also contributes to the internationalization of teacher education by incorporating perspectives from both the Global North and Souths, ultimately enhancing the quality of language teaching and learning across borders.
